GEOMETRY AT THE ORIGINS

SATS by Harto

SATS is a collection of 99 generative works created by Harto in February 2023, inscribed on Bitcoin when Ordinals were still an experiment. Each piece is algorithmically produced from a simple geometric grammar: cubes, planes, and lines arranged in bold contrasts of colour and void. What matters is not complexity but timing. These are among the first 100k inscriptions ever made. They hold the trace of the moment when digital art first began to anchor itself directly to the Bitcoin blockchain.

WHEN ART STARTED ON BITCOIN

HARTO’S GENESIS

SATS marks the first appearance of Harto on Ordinals. Since then his work has grown in recognition, collected widely across the ecosystem. This series is his genesis point, the proof of where his Ordinals story begins.

SUB 10K INSCRIPTIONS

With inscription numbers ranging from #8,815 to #49,891, each SATS is a true early artifact. Collectors prize such low numbers because they represent the first wave: art inscribed into Bitcoin before the protocol was widely known, before markets formed. In fact, even though this is a generative art collection, the files on chain are images, not code, so the registration process was quicker in an age when everyone's on the run.

ALGORITHMIC CLARITY

The visual language is intentionally pared down. Geometry is treated as material: squares, cubes, and colour fields arranged by rule. This restraint allows the works to function as markers of time, early experiments whose simplicity highlights the courage of the act.

BIRTH OF A MOVEMENT

SATS is part of the moment when artists first began treating Bitcoin itself as a medium. Inscribed in a bear market, when many dismissed Bitcoin as fading, these works carried the opposite conviction: that art could live in its ledger. From experiments like this grew the gallery and what we now call Art on Bitcoin.
